Megaman X: Recompiled v1.0.0 Release
Megaman X for the Super NES has just gotten it's first fully playable build, making SNESRecomp's second fully playable game, with Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past remaining in active development towards MVP.
This build was made possible as a result of snesrecomp, an ongoing static recompiler project for the Super NES. The project began with the building of Super Mario World as it's first successful showcase. In order to mature the project, both Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Megaman X were targeted as its next titles. Today, Megaman X has released in its first fully playable state – meaning a player can go from the start of the game, through all 8 robot masters, Sigma states, and Sigma himself.
This marks a major milestone in the project's development as being the first game to be recompiled without explicit disassembly as a reference.
The game can be played and downloaded now by going to the Release page. Players will be required to provide their own US ROM of Megaman X in order to play.
