Side 7 10/22/24 Update

Development on Side 7 continues! Progress in custom map development has been made and new content is available for Halloween!

Advancements in Custom Map Development for Gundam Evolution

I'm excited to share some recent breakthroughs in the development of custom maps for Gundam Evolution, driven by the dedicated efforts of a talented modder, McLyntree. Over the past few months, McLyntree has made significant strides in adapting Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) maps specifically for this game, leading to some impressive milestones:

  • Integrating fully custom maps into the Gundam Evolution environment.
  • Progress toward adding these new maps to the game’s map rotation.
  • Implementing custom blueprints within maps to enhance gameplay.
  • Crafting new, immersive intro sequences for custom maps.

In addition to these developments, McLyntree has been collaborating with the creator of a UE4 modding tool called Stove, which is instrumental for modifying cooked UE4 assets. This tool has enabled further advancements, including the addition and manipulation of gamemode objects. If you're curious about this tool, check it out here.

Spooky New Content

In celebration of Halloween, the community has introduced some festive content for Gundam Evolution. Among the additions is a Halloween-themed portrait and stamp created by Dwheim, bringing a bit of spooky flair to the game.

Contributors like Kalvlidan, McLyntree, and Duckman have also made fantastic contributions in this latest update, offering new and exciting content for players to enjoy.

UEDumper Stamp: A Token of Appreciation

The latest update also introduces the UEDumper stamp, created by Spuckwaffel, as a special tribute. Early on in the Side 7 project, Spuckwaffel and his community played a critical role in supporting the reverse engineering of Gundam Evolution’s client. Their contributions laid the foundation for much of the work done in the early days of Side 7, and this commemorative stamp serves as a small token of gratitude for their efforts.
